- *Wednesday* season 2 has arguably teased the arrival of Ophelia, Morticia's long-lost sister and Wednesday's aunt.

- After Jenna Ortega revealed that Lady Gaga's role *isn't* that of a Nevermore teacher, fans are speculating that the pop star could be playing Ophelia.

- *Wednesday* season 2, part 2, hits Netflix on Sept. 3, 2025.

The first part of *Wednesday* season 2 ended with macabre revelations involving covert experiments, bloodthirsty zombies, and more than a few corpses.

At the center of it all is Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital, which finds itself liberated of patients (and a rampaging Hyde) in the messy final moments of episode 4. While carnage is sure to permeate the season's upcoming back half, there's also the chance that a new Addams could play a key role. Her name? Ophelia.

Who is Ophelia? And how does *Wednesday* season 2, part 1, tease her role in the story? And, perhaps most importantly, will she be played by a particular pop sensation? We break it all down below.**

Who is Ophelia?

Ophelia has appeared as Morticia's older sister in numerous iterations of *The Addams Family* over the years, including Charles Addams' original comics. Traditionally, she's portrayed as the opposite of Morticia, with golden hair and a white wardrobe adorned with colorful flowers, which serve as a nod to her namesake in William Shakespeare's *Hamlet*.

On ABC's original *Addams Family* sitcom (1964–1966), Ophelia was portrayed by Carolyn** **Jones, the same actress who played Morticia, in a blonde wig. The character also appeared in other *Addams Family* adaptations, including the 1991 and 1993 films, though in smaller roles.**

So, who is Ophelia on Wednesday?

Ophelia is a much more mysterious character on *Wednesday*, though we learn several details about her in season 2, part 1.

Specifically, we learn that Ophelia shared similar powers to Wednesday (Jenna Ortega), given that they are both psychic ravens. Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen) lets it slip to Wednesday that Ophelia was previously a patient at Willow Hill.

After that deadly 'Wednesday' shocker, series creators say you should be 'worried' for Part 2 (exclusive)

Later, Morticia is pressed to admit that Ophelia "pushed her psychic ability too far," and that's "why she went away." She also reveals it was Grandmama (Joanna Lumley) who chose to send Ophelia to the asylum, against Morticia's objections.

"Grandmama was always better at burying things than fixing them," intones Morticia.

She adds that Ophelia, then a sophomore at Nevermore, was found "screaming in the quad" with "black tears running down her cheeks." This, obviously, is concerning to Wednesday, who has cried the same black tears as her psychic powers have diminished.

Ophelia eventually left Willow Hill, but her fate has remained a mystery for 20 years.**

Is Lady Gaga playing Ophelia on Wednesday?

Netflix has yet to announce who will play Ophelia, or if Ophelia will even show up in season 2. But that hasn't stopped fans from speculating that the mysterious character could be played by Grammy-winning pop star (and Oscar-nominated actress) Lady Gaga.

But, wait, hasn't Netflix already announced who Gaga is playing in *Wednesday* season 2?

Indeed, they have. In May, Netflix revealed at a *Wednesday* Tudum event that she would guest star as Rosaline Rotwood, a character the streamer described in an X post as "a legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday."

But that announcement could have possibly been a slight misdirection, as Ortega herself recently let it slip to *Entertainment Tonight* that Gaga is, in fact, *not* playing a teacher.

"She's not a teacher," said Ortega. "So that's your little clue. She's not. Whatever you heard, it's wrong."

This, naturally, has led many fans to theorize that Gaga could be playing Ophelia in the back half of *Wednesday*'s second season.

That theory, too, is fueled by remarks made by Morticia actress Catherine Zeta-Jones in the same interview. "I think the Addams family would just welcome her with open arms. I actually feel that she is probably related somehow, genetically, to the Addams family," she said.

Zeta-Jones went on to clarify that she meant "the *real* Addams family," referencing Addams' original comics. But, and perhaps this is our tinfoil hats talking, did she or did she not *really* emphasize "related" in that sentence?**

When does Wednesday part 2 come out?

*Wednesday *season 2, part 2, premieres on Sept. 3, 2025. It will consist of four episodes.**

Where can I watch Wednesday?
