Reba McEntire is remembering her stepson, Brandon Blackstock, with kind words in a public tribute.

"Last week, my stepson/oldest son Brandon Blackstock went home to be with God," the country music star wrote Tuesday on social media. "His struggle is over and he is in eternal peace in God's presence. There is no one else like him, and I'm thankful for the time we had together. His legacy and laughter will be carried on through his family."

She added, "Rest in peace cowboy. Happy trails to you til we meet again."

Blackstock, the former manager and husband of Kelly Clarkson, died Aug. 7 from skin cancer. His survivors include their two children: daughter River Rose, 11, and son Remy Alexander, 9.

McEntire was married to Blackstock's father, Narvel, from 1989 to 2015. In addition to Brandon, she was a stepmother to Narvel's two daughters through the union.
