Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo have come a long way from chasing down bad guys on *NCIS*. In the first official trailer for their new spinoff series, *NCIS: Tony & Ziva*, the long-running investigative procedural's most enduring will-they-won't-they become the bad guys — or so their enemies would like Interpol to think.
"Someone is trying to frame us, it's a cyber attack," Tony warns in the new trailer, which dropped at San Diego Comic-Con 2025. "We have to stop them before they hurt more people." This new look at the sixth *NCIS *franchise spinoff, which Paramount+ announced in February, provides fans with a fuller picture of what kind of trouble Tony and Ziva will be getting into in *Tony & Ziva*.**
The official logline for the series notes that the series "picks up after Ziva's supposed death when Tony left the NCIS team to go raise their daughter." De Pablo left the series after season 10 in 2013 after Ziva was apparently killed off screen, but not only did she not die, she gave birth to Tony's child, Tali. Weatherly followed de Pablo by departing after season 13, in 2016.
The characters were seen in brief appearances in later episodes. The final glimpse of their lives depicted them in Paris raising Tali (Isla Gie in *Tony & Ziva*). That's where the spinoff picks up, and of course, the co-parents and maybe-couple's happy ending is everything but. "Cops, assassins, killer cars — not quite the happily-ever-after I was hoping for," Weatherly snarks.

The rest of the trailer teases what seems to be the new series' three key components: Tony and Ziva's wise-cracking repartee ("You still as good a shot as you used to be?" Tony asks Ziva after she loads an automatic rifle with ease. "Better. You?" she responds, with Tony proceeding to re-load a handgun so clumsily it falls apart); the high-stakes espionage plot, which unfolds after Tony's cybersecurity company is hacked (the character describes their predicament as "more of a cross between techno-thriller and romantic comedy); and finally, the romantic part of that descriptor.

"Are you getting back together?" Tali asks them early on. "What's the deal with you two?" another character asks Ziva. "We used to chase bad guys together, now we share this incredible child, thats it!" she answers, trying and almost succeeding to sound nonchalant.
But toward the end of the the trailer, newly-revealed snippets from the spinoff's maiden season show Ziva in what appears to be a wedding dress, and both characters engaging in several love scenes.**
