Ozzy Osbourne's family was an important part of his life.
The heavy metal icon, who died at 76 on July 22, spent many of his later years soaking up quality time with his children. The Black Sabbath lead singer got a second act as one of America's most beloved dads, sharing another side of himself on The Osbournes, which premiered on MTV in 2002.
Ozzy was a father to six. He had three children from his first of three marriages — Jessica, Louis and Elliot with ex Thelma Riley — as well as his three children with wife Sharon: Aimee, Kelly and Jack.
In recent years, Ozzy also reveled in being a grandfather to Louis' kids Elijah and Maia, plus Jessica's kids Isabelle, Harry and Kitty. He and Sharon share five grandchildren — Jack and his ex-wife Lisa Stelly's three kids, Pearl Clementine, Andy Rose and Minnie Theodora, as well as fourth daughter Maple Artemis with wife Aree Gearhart, plus Kelly Osbourne and fiancé Sid Wildson's baby boy, Sidney.
Ozzy came to be known as a family man later in life. Here's what the rocker has said about parenting and grandparenting along his journey with each.

Speaking with Record Mirror in 1978, Ozzy explained that he had taken a pause from music when his father died at 64. Losing his father and its connection to his own parenting journey left the musician troubled.
"There’s a song on the new album – 'Junior’s Eyes' – that’s a farewell song to my father, about my grief. We were like brothers," he shared. "He died on my daughter’s sixth birthday, in the same hospital she was born in."
He added, "It was weird. It’s only now that I can talk about it to anyone. I made a fool of myself at funeral, it was awful, I thought he was just ill, I had no idea he was dying. I just couldn’t cope with it."

In a 2014 interview with The Daily Mail, Osbourne admitted that when it came to regrets in his life, his biggest ones related to his family.
"The way I treated both my wives... I was a bad father, an abusive husband and I had an ego the size of India," he admitted to the outlet. "I spent decades of my life being an absolute idiot. I’ve got so many regrets I can’t even remember half of them. But wives and kids are right at the top. It’s pointless even saying sorry. I couldn’t say it enough times. All I can do is stay sober."
An argument between Ozzy and Jack set the rocker on the right path

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer said his addiction impacted his ability to be a present father when looking back in an interview with Variety with 2021.
"I didn't give a s---, because I was loaded," Osbourne said. "It's a very selfish disease. You don't think about it because you're loaded, in an altered state."
It was coming to that realization in an argument with Jack that changed Ozzy's perspective on substance use.
"I had a row with Jack. I had to talk business. And I said, 'What have you ever f-----g wanted? I'll give you whatever you want,'" Ozzy recalled. "He says, 'What about a father?' That kicked me in the balls so hard. It knocked me sideways. I went, 'Oh, my God.' I'd give whatever materialistic things they ever wanted. But the most important person wasn't there."
To his grandkids, he was "Grandpa Ozzy"

Ozzy first opened up about being a grandfather during a 2010 appearance on The Howard Stern Show, where he shared he isn't bothered by being "Grandpa Ozzy."
"What if they just call you 'Prince of Darkness'?" Stern asked.
"Well, either," Ozzy laughed, going on to tell a story about a time Jack was confused as his grandchild.
"I'm like, 'How f-----g old do you think I am?' " he laughed. "But you know what? It happens to everybody."

In May 2022, Kelly announced that she and Wilson were expecting their first child together. "I am over the moon to announce that I am going to be a Mumma," she wrote alongside a selfie of her holding the ultrasound photo. "To say that I am happy does not quite cut it. I am ecstatic! 🤰💜."
Before the birth, Ozzy had revealed the baby's sex without his daughter's permission, but Kelly later explained that he was just "so excited."
"Kelly is big and she's beautiful and I love it," the proud grandfather said ahead of baby Sidney's arrival, adding, "The first thing that I'm gonna buy [the baby] is a microphone."

Kelly told PEOPLE in May 2024 that she lived with her parents through her pregnancy while partner Sid Wilson toured with his band, Slipknot.
"I did everything with him for a whole nine months," she said. "It was more than nine months because I moved back in with my parents when I was pregnant because Sid was on tour and I didn't want to be by myself."
She called the time an "amazing experience," adding, "I'd never give that back for anything."

In 2023, Jack talked with Fox News Digital about his dad babysitting his daughters, explaining that he had some hard and fast rules, but loved to babysit.
"My dad is like, ‘Hell, no. Like, no,' " he said of changing diapers. "Because my dad's in that era where, like, men don't touch diapers. Like, that's not that's not what dads do."
"It's funny if my kids are at the house and like they all want to get into bed and watch TV with my mom, my dad is like, ‘Nope.’ And he like, gets out of the bed and like, goes. He's like, 'No, I'm not doing that,'" Jack said.
He continued, "I'm like, ‘Why?’ He's like, 'I don't want them going to school being like, 'I was in bed with my grandpa.' He's like, ‘No, not dealing with it.’ And I'm like, ‘OK.’ I'm like, 'Fine, that's your boundary. That's your boundary.' "
