Bowling for Soup’s Jaret Reddick is getting real about his health.
On Tuesday, July 1, the 53-year-old frontman took to Instagram to reveal that he’s been battling a severe ulcerative colitis flare since March.

“I fell off the wagon,” the frontman wrote. “I had to cancel shows, vacation plans, drs appts, and the list goes on. The steroids make me irritable and ravenous. And I hate both those things!! My support system has been so gracious in dealing with all of it.”

According to the Cleveland Clinic, ulcerative colitis “is a lifelong condition that causes inflammation and ulcers inside your colon.” Flare-ups can bring on intense symptoms like severe abdominal pain, frequent bowel movements, and extreme fatigue, often making day-to-day life difficult to manage.
“I do not need your advice,” Reddick continued. “I’m under several dr’s care, but I know it’s social media and you want me to do what you think is best. You don’t know me and you don’t know my health. But thank you.”
Despite the challenges, the beloved musician said he was finally turning a corner. “This has been a tough year, but also one of the best years of my life,” Reddick said. “And one of the best years for all things Jaret Reddick! Out of the 40 pounds I lost, I gained back 3. I earned it! Haha I’m back b****es!! Watch me spin!!”

Following the cancellation of his appearance at Pop Punks Not Dead, Reddick shared in a June 5 video how the flare left him feeling drained, disappointed, and isolated. “I had to cancel the weekend shows because of my illness. I don’t believe I’ve ever canceled a show because of ulcerative colitis.”

The Phineas and Ferb voice actor continued, “I’m bummed out. I’m tired of sitting on the toilet… I feel like I’m letting the fans down, the band down, and, you know, myself down really.” Wrapping up, he added, “Do I feel better after sharing this? Yeah, I do… It’s alright to talk about it.”
Bowling for Soup rocked D.C. last month as part of Warped Tour’s return, and next, they’re headed west. "DC showed up. Loud. Unhinged. They knew every word to 1985," the band wrote on Instagram. "Long Beach… your move. Don’t let DC take the crown that easy."

The band — now performing as a trio with Reddick on vocals and guitar, Rob Felicetti on bass, and Gary Wiseman on drums — has continued touring following longtime guitarist Chris Burney’s retirement earlier this year.
